AHHHHH I FINALLY MADE IT!!! Ugh I feel like I have been waiting forever for the world race to start and it finally has!! The past week I have been in Gainesville, Georgia at the Adventures in Missions base for training camp, and it has been quite a week. I got to meet my squad and they are just the best! one of my favorite parts about training camp has been getting to know my squad and hearing their stories and how the Lord brought them to the World Race. We haven't even started missions yet but I can already see how God so specifically picked everyone from around the country (and one from Scotland) to serve on this team.

My days at training camp started with worship and I am so thankful for the time to focus on Him before going onto the field. Another thing we did at training camp was cultural day! Throughout the day we practiced traditional Cambodian customs. Examples: covering knees and shoulders, taking shoes off before going inside, and using your full hand to point at things (but only with your right hand!!) We also did team bonding activities and saw how my squad mates solve problems and how well we work together. The first new experience for me was doing laundry in a bucket, it wasn't that bad except it has been raining the passed four days so my clothes took FOREVER to dry and has a faint smell of mildew :)

A highlight of training camp was definitely squad wars! Also with us at training camp was a team going to the Dominican Republican and we got to compete against each other in the weirdest but funniest games ever and a chant off!! And of course WE WON!!

This week has been filled with so much joy and fun but also times where I missed the comfort of home mostly when it came time to sleep and I had to sleep in a tent with 5 other girls. And sleeping in a tent gets old fast! I love the girls in my tent but I miss my bed and my own space a little. Along with that having to use a porta potty for a week with 40 other people using the same one also gets old really fast. But this is a time for growth and sacrifice so all is well.

I am so thankful for this week spent focused on intimacy with the Lord and getting to know my squad. I can already see what a blessing this opportunity to serve our creator is! Today is day one of three travel days to Cambodia, so keep my team in your prayers as we begin to travel onto the field.

Here are a few pics from training camp!!

Home for the last week!
